The Greater Western Sydney Giants are the first AFL team for Greater
Western Sydney, with a bold vision to become one of the leading sporting
clubs in Australia.
The Giants will galvanise more than three million people across
Greater Western Sydney, as well as the ACT and Southern NSW, to support
the Club providing exciting, fun filled family entertainment and a
commitment to supporting the community.
The introduction of the Greater Western Sydney Giants into the AFL in
2012 includes the redevelopment of the Sydney Showgrounds Arena at
Sydney Olympic Park.
The new team and facilities will offer the youth of Western Sydney
real opportunities and direction. Children in Macquarie Fields and
Blacktown already take part in the AFL's Indigenous Academies and the
new team will mean an expansion of AFL's renowned social and community
programs in Western Sydney.
